Maps In Our Lives
The online companion to this 2006-2007 library exhibit "explores surveying, cartography, geodesy, and geographic information systems." National Geographic
Some of the many topic covered at this site are adventure, history, nature, and exploration. There are sections for children and teachers. The photography area has an archived gallery and technical advice. National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC)
The NGDC provides "geophysical data describing the solid earth, marine, and solar-terrestrial environment, as well as earth observations from space." Browse for material in these areas: bathymetry and global relief, marine geology and geophysics, natural hazards (such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and wildfires), geomagnetic data, earth observations from space, and space weather and solar events.
