Located in Virginia and Maryland, this seashore is home to more than 300 wild horses, as well as many birds and other wildlife. This site has information about wildlife in the area, including a photo gallery and a list of migratory birds. Also has details about the Chincoteague Wild Pony Swim (held annually in late July), which was made famous by Marguerite Henry's 1947 book, "Misty of Chincoteague."

Information about efforts to preserve this New Zealand bird, of which less than 100 are known to exist. This bird is "a parrot that looks like an owl, but which cannot fly. This exhibit "showcases work by one of the pioneers of copy art, or as Prins calls it, 'electrography.' Prins employs a Canon 200 Color Laser Copier to create large-scale art works pieced together from separate photocopies of, among other things, the human figure, birds, earth, leaves, fish and squid." Operation Migration (OM) view detail comment email this

Orphaned and captive birds do not know how to migrate. Flying light airplanes, OM pilots act "as surrogate parents, helping the birds imprint on the aircraft and conditioning them to fly with it. Later, when the birds are mature, they are led south by the OM team on a pre-determined route to a safe wintering site." Includes photo and field journals and video clips of their work with Canada geese, Sandhill cranes, and whooping cranes.

"More than 60 years after the last confirmed sighting of the species in the United States, a research team announced [in April 2005] that at least one male ivory-bill still survives" in Arkansas.
